US Consul General visits JN Port, applauds ‘Ease of Doing Business’ initiatives

Navi Mumbai – US Consul General, Mr. Thomas Vajda visited India’s number one port viz, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) on Monday along with his delegation team including Mr Greg Taevs, Chief of the Commercial Section and Mr Adam Branson, Chief of Foreign Agricultural Service. Shri Neeraj Bansal, Deputy Chairman & top officials of JNPT welcomed the US Consul General and his delegation team at Port premises & headquarters to further showcase the current developments and future plans and projects of the Port in a meeting held at Sheva, Navi Mumbai.

On his maiden visit to JN Port, Mr Vajda appreciated the Port’s operational capacity that is supporting many importers and exporters based out of USA. He mentioned that India is increasingly becoming one of the major markets for US and it is important to strengthen the country’s biggest Container port’s capability through modern technological interventions. 

While giving a presentation to Mr Vajda and his delegation in a meeting, Mr. Bansal explained Port’s locational advantages, operational efficiencies through ‘Ease of doing Business’ initiatives, future development of One Satellite Port & Two Dry Ports and the ongoing development of the Fourth Container Terminal. He also shared his views on how port is taking various initiatives for decongestion at port area through some of the recent initiatives such as – Internal Terminal transfer of TTs, Direct Port Delivery, RFID-based Container Tagging and paperless operations, digitization of various processes - that have helped the EXIM trade in saving of cost & time, which are two major critical components in Maritime industry and which are of more value for all EXIM trade.
