In KPT, there are five Trade Unions operating in the Port and one of the Unions viz., Kandla Port Karamchari Sangh (KPKS), has given a strike notice with the charter of Demands, which includes some local Issues also which are under active consideration of the Management.
The matter is seized under conciliation by the Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central) and the necessary administrative arrangements have already been made in this regard.
In order to avert the strike in Kandla Port Trust and its adverse impact on KPT operations, the Chairman, KPT, took a meeting with the representatives of Major Trade Unions and heard their issues. The Chairman assured them that the issues raised by the Unions would be properly looked into in a time-bound manner and requested the Labour Trustees/Union Leaders not to participate in the proposed strike on 02/09/2016. It is hoped that the Unions operating at KPT would not resort to strike in KPT on 02/09/2016.
