DP World Cochin goes from strength to strength, handles 43,000 TEU in August 2016

Cochin, India, September 1, 2016: Global trade enabler DP World operated International Container Transhipment Terminal at Vallarpadam; Cochin being persistent to maintain their growth trajectory. The terminal in the month of August 2016 handled more than 43,000 TEU, a 20% improvement on the volume handled in August last year. These figures indicate a remarkable growth in the terminal’s performance showcasing the increase in trade from South India.


The terminal showcased the best truck turnaround time in the country of 25 minutes along with 30+ crane moves per hour, making it the most efficient terminal in South India. Improvement in productivity, new services, and a high number of vessels handled add to the faith gained from the EXIM along with immense customer confidence.


Increasing its connectivity with the neighbouring ports, ICTT hosts a well-established network wherein 10 feeder services and 6 mainline services connect the terminal with other ports. On an average the terminals docks more than 60 vessels in a month. With the longest rail bridge in India spanning 4.62 kms, the terminal boasts direct rail connectivity to influential markets like Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Nagpur and Delhi.
