Impressive half yearly performance in cargo handling by Kandla Port

Kandla Port achieved an impressive 7.11% growth in cargo handling during the half year ending Sept’16. The port handled 53.96 MMT of cargo during FY 2016-17 (upto Sept’16) as compared to 50.38 MMT during the corresponding period of last year, which showed an increase of 3.58 MMT.
In case of liquid handled at Kandla, there was an increase of 1.08 MMT (19%) as the port handled 6.66 MMT during 2016-17 (Upto Sept’16) as against 5.58 MMT handled during corresponding period of last year. A quantity of 18.38 MMT of Dry cargo was handled during FY 2016-17 (Upto Sept’16) as against 18.55 MMT handled during corresponding period of last year. The Port handled a quantity of 28.93 MMT of crude oil & POL-product cargoes, at Vadinar during  FY 2015-16 (Upto Sept’16) as against 26.26 MMT handled during corresponding period of last year, thereby achieving an increase of 2.67 MMT or 10%.
While observing, the cumulative performance of cargoes at the port, increase was seen in the following commodities as shown under :
1) Salt : 27.03 lakh vs 25.29 lakhs, increase : 1.74 lakhs & 6.88%.
2) Raw material for fertilizers : 1.65 lakh vs 0.83 lakhs, increase : 0.82 lakhs & 98.80%.
3) Timber logs : 15.78 lakh vs 15.07 lakhs, increase : 0.71 lakhs & 4.71%.
4) Coal : 88.58 lakh vs 75.82 lakhs, increase : 12.76 lakhs & 16.83%.
5) Sugar : 6.83 lakh vs 3.54 lakhs, increase : 3.29 lakhs & 92.94%.
6) Phos acid & Ammonia : 10.83 lakh vs 8.23 lakhs, increase : 2.60 lakhs & 31.59%.
7) Chemicals : 15.44 lakh vs 13.61 lakhs, increase : 1.83 lakhs & 13.45%.
8) POL (Kandla) : 15.68 lakh vs 10.45 lakhs, increase : 5.23 lakhs & 50.05%.
9) Edible oils : 24.59 lakh vs 23.53 lakhs, increase : 1.06 lakhs & 4.50%.
10) Crude oil : 222.31 lakh vs 197.74 lakhs, increase : 24.57 lakhs & 12.43%.
11) POL (Vadinar) : 64.06 lakh vs 62.36 lakhs, increase : 1.70 lakh and 2.73%.
